The men’s basketball team (23-9) pulled off a second-half comeback to defeat the Texas State Bobcats 72-63 in the quarterfinals of the Sun Belt Championship.
The Bobcats got off to a hot start hitting their first six shots and taking an early 26-16. UTA responded with an 8-0 run. Six of those points came off a sequence when junior guard Drew Charles hit a 3-pointer then stole the ball and hit another 3 off a feed from sophomore guard Erick Neal. The Bobcats responded outscoring the Mavs 12-9 to finish off the half with a 38-33 lead.
The Mavericks were aggressive in the second half, taking the ball to the hole more and drawing fouls after taking 22 three pointers in the first half.
