For the third time in the UTA men’s basketball program's history, the Mavericks earned a bid to the National Invitation Tournament.
The Mavericks will travel to Provo, Utah, to face Brigham Young University at 8 p.m. Wednesday at Marriott Center.
UTA won the Sun Belt regular-season championship and made it past the quarterfinals of the Sun Belt Championship, but fell in the semifinals to Texas State, ending the Mavericks' run at an automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament.
“When we lost in the Sun Belt tournament, it feels like the season is over with. Everybody has that empty feeling — it feels like your whole world has collapsed,” head coach Scott Cross said.
