Mavs pitch a winning game against TCU

The UTA baseball team (17-13) toppled No. 5 TCU (22-6) 4-3 on Wednesday at Lupton Stadium in Fort Worth behind solid pitching in the first innings and an early lead.

The Mavs almost gave the game away to the Horned Frogs in the eighth, giving up a three-run homerun to cut the lead to 4-3. TCU put the tying run on base in the ninth with one out. Senior second baseman Darien McLemore didn't let it slip away, fielding a hard hit ground ball up the middle and turning the double play to end the game.

UTA head coach Darin Thomas said although the offense stranded 10 runners, they got the job done.
