Mavs pay back Texas State after early season loss

UTA (17-6, 7-3) defeated Texas State (13-9, 6-4) 76-61 on Saturday to remain undefeated at College Park Center this season.

In their last matchup, Texas State ended the team’s 11-game win streak, but, this time, the Mavericks busted the Bobcats three-game winning streak.

The Mavericks used a 14-0 run to gain some separation in the first half and take a 24-10 lead.

Junior forward Kevin Hervey and senior forward Jorge Bilbao scored 27 points in the first half as UTA took a 39-30 lead into halftime.

Junior guard Erick Neal started the second half with a mid-range jumper, followed by a Bilbao layup and a Hervey 3-pointer to extend the Mavericks’ lead to 14.
