Mavs face the Jaguars, lose doubleheader

The UTA softball team (25-10, 4-7) continued to struggle in Sun Belt Conference play as they dropped Saturday’s doubleheader to the South Alabama Jaguars (23-11, 11-2).

In game one, the Mavericks fell to an early 3-0 deficit as the Jaguars capitalized on two first-inning errors before forcing junior starting pitcher Brooklynne Simbeck out of the game in the third inning.

The Mavs failed to produce any offense as the Jaguars continued to build on the lead, adding three runs in the third to increase the their lead to 6-0.

Six runs would prove to be enough, as UTA could only muster one run in seven innings against South Alabama.
