Mavs earn retribution after second-half surge against Warhawks

Last time the Mavericks saw the University of Louisiana-Monroe, they were knocked out of the Sun Belt Championship semifinals.

This time, the men’s basketball team (14-5, 4-2) got the better of the Warhawks (6-13, 0-6) with a 71-55 win Saturday at College Park Center.

“They beat us three times last year,” senior forward Jalen Jones said. "We had a bad taste in our mouth, so we knew we wanted to come in here and beat them. We really wanted to annihilate them, honestly.”

UTA rolled out a different starting lineup for the game, opting to start freshman guard DJ Bryant and junior guard Kaelon Wilson instead of junior forward Kevin Hervey and junior guard Erick Neal.
