The men's basketball team (21-9, 12-7) was the first to fight Thursday night at College Park Center.
They put on a show for military veterans with a 92-79 win over the South Alabama (13-17, 8-11) Jaguars.
The Mavericks took control in the first half with three players scoring in double figures. They dominated the Jaguars on the glass outrebounding them 21-10 and also had 10 second chance points.
The game was close until junior forward Faith Pope showcased his versatility and started a 14-3 run. In a little over a minute, Pope had a highlight-reel dunk, blocked a shot, got an offensive rebound and hit a 3-pointer.
