Mavs advance to 2nd round of National Invitation Tournament

Senior guard Drew Charles scored a career-high 28 points and kept the Mavericks’ season and National Invitation Tournament hopes alive in a 105-89 win against Brigham Young University on Wednesday at Marriott Center in Provo, Utah.

“Drew was on fire for us,” head coach Scott Cross said. “When he gets going, it just makes a lot of things easier for us.”

Junior guard Kaelon Wilson scored six of the Mavericks’ first eight points to give them an 8-2 lead to start the game. Wilson and Charles led UTA to 63 percent shooting from the floor in the first half as the Mavericks scored their most points in a half this season, taking a 62-55 lead into the break.
