Three of the top four teams in the Sun Belt Conference men’s basketball standings fell Saturday.
UTA was not one of them.
The Mavericks (18-6, 8-3) defeated first place Arkansas State (18-7, 9-3) 81-75 Saturday at College Park Center.
“We control our own destiny,” head coach Scott Cross said. “It’s up to our guys. If they want to play like they’re capable of playing, then I think we’ll win this thing.”
In the first half, senior forward Jorge Bilbao put his diverse skillset on display. Bilbao had a few highlight-reel plays during a 10-0 run.
