Mavericks reflect on season of triumph, adversity

A historic season for the men’s basketball team ended with 24 wins, tying the most successful season in program history.

In fact, UTA earned a slew of accolades, including garnering its first post-season win and set single-season offensive records such as in points (2,762), assists (590) and 3-pointers (307).

The season began with two wins against the “big boys,” the Ohio State Buckeyes and the Memphis Tigers, in front of their fans.

Sophomore forward Kevin Hervey said the Mavericks were able to pick up those wins because of their preparation before the season.

“We do this thing called boot camp, and it’s the worst week of all of our lives,” Hervey said.
