The Little Rock Trojans came out firing on all cylinders against the UTA Mavericks on Saturday, posting an 18-0 run to start the game. This put the Mavericks in a hole that they couldn’t climb out of, in the battle for the number one spot in the Sun Belt Conference.
In front of 5,033 fans, the second largest crowd at College Park Center this season and fifth largest in the arena’s history, UTA closed the deficit to a final 68-62 coming out sizzling in the second half. The Mavericks went on a 16-0 run approaching the last three minutes of the second half but quality free-throw shooting by Little Rock at the end of the half kept the lead right at arm’s length for the Mavericks.
