Mavericks fall to University of Oklahoma

Despite a two-run home run by senior infielder Christian Hollie, the baseball team (20-21) was defeated 11-5 against No. 18 University of Oklahoma on Tuesday evening at Clay Gould Ballpark.

“When you get behind 10-0 against a team like that, it’s hard to come back,” head coach Darin Thomas said. “We’re still not healthy, but that’s no excuse. Nobody feels sorry for us. It's only going to get tougher.”

The Mavericks got off to a slow start as the Sooners tacked on three runs to open up the first inning.

It would be the same story in the second inning as the Sooners bagged another four runs, including a two-run home run to push their lead to 7-0.
