Almost 4,000 fans filled the seats of College Park Center on Saturday as the men’s basketball team (2-0) defeated the University of Northern Iowa 74-65 to put a happy ending to Homecoming weekend.
“All the credit, every bit of the credit, goes to these players,” head coach Chris Ogden said. “They truly, truly, truly won this game. They came in, they were focused, they handled the ups and the downs, and at the end of the game, they closed it.”
The win marks the program’s first back-to-back 2-0 start since the 2007-08 and 2008-09 seasons.
The Mavericks opened up the first half kind of slow, but once they got their momentum going, the team led for the majority of the first half.
