The Mavericks got redemption Sunday against Stephen F. Austin with solid pitching and explosive bats.
The baseball team beat Stephen F. Austin 13-7 in the final game of the Clay Gould Classic at Clay Gould Ballpark. Junior pitcher Austin Gardner made his Maverick debut and didn’t disappoint pitching into the sixth inning giving up just three runs on seven hits.
Run support was there from the start as junior first baseman Colton Turner drove in the game’s first run in the bottom of the first followed by a four-run second inning kicked off by an RBI single from sophomore shortstop RJ Williams.
