Lady Mavs to replicate success

With sophomore center Rebekah VanDijk recovering from an illness, UTA (8-11, 3-6) looks to get back on track in Sun Belt Conference play against last place Georgia Southern (6-13, 3-7) 4 p.m. Thursday at Hanner Fieldhouse.

Despite playing through an illness Saturday against the Louisiana-Lafeyette Ragin’ Cajuns at the Cajundome, VanDijk played well, recording 17 points and 11 rebounds on 7-9 shooting from the field.

“That game was a blur,” VanDijk said. “You just have to push through it, you try not to think about it because the game is more important.”

UTA head coach Krista Gerlich said barring any new developments, VanDijk should be available for Thursday’s game.
