The women’s basketball team (8-10, 3-5) ended its four-game losing streak Thursday night with a 60-50 win against the University of Louisiana Monroe (8-10, 2-7).
The Lady Mavs jumped out to a 20-9 lead after the first quarter and never trailed the entire game.
“These kids were just hungry to get a win,” head coach Krista Gerlich said, “They did a really nice job of being confident and attacking early.”
The third quarter again was a problem for UTA as they were outscored by 6 and Louisiana ended the quarter on a 10-0 run to cut the lead to 46-40.
