The women's basketball team improved to 2-0 on the young season, defeating Oral Roberts University 70-46 on Monday at College Park Center.
The Lady Mavericks started with an early 15-0 run in the first quarter to take a 17-4 lead, behind two 3-pointers from senior guard Crystal Allen. Allen led all scorers with a career-high 22 points.
Head coach Krista Gerlich said the team played well from the opening tip and shook off the jitters from the season opener on Saturday. Gerlich said the team shot the ball well all the way around.
“To me, that’s contagious, you know, if someone is knocking them down and everybody’s feeling it,” Gerlich said.
