Hot bats lead Mavs over Bears

The Mavericks’ bats were popping in Waco.

After rain postponed the UTA Mavericks (3-2) at Baylor Bears (1-3) game Tuesday in Waco, the Mavericks pounded the Bears 9-2 in the game rescheduled Wednesday. This is the Mavs’ first win against Baylor at their house since 2005.

The Mavs’ offense got going early, scoring in the first inning for the fourth time in their first five games. Sophomore third baseman Christian Hollie and junior first baseman Colton Tuner led the Mavericks with three RBIs each. Hollie finished the night three-for-five at the plate with no strikeouts and Turner ended up going two–for-five striking out once.
