In spring 2027, women’s flag football will be incorporated as the 16th varsity sport at UTA, marking the fifth NCAA Division I school nationally to implement the sport and Texas’ first Division I school to make the introduction.
UTA’s introduction of women’s flag football includes joining a preestablished conference as its flagship institution at the start of the 2026–27 season. The United Athletic Conference was founded in 2021 and held its first season as a single-sport conference in 2023, dedicated heavily to football.
