It was the fourth quarter, and the Dallas Wings were taking on the Connecticut Sun.
The Wings needed a shift in momentum.
So “Poizon Ivy” went to work.
Ivy Awino, the Dallas Wings DJ, cued the fans to chant “Defense!”
“I literally coordinate all the sound in all the arena,” Awino said. “I’m blessed enough to have the liberty to be a little creative.”
Destany Mungia, a dancer with the Dallas Wings Flight Crew, said Awino makes her job easier.
“Poizon Ivy does a great job,” Mungia said. “She definitely knows how to get the crowd back involved if they’re ever dead or anything.
