The cross-country teams will be hosting the annual Gerald Richey UTA Invitational on Friday.
In their season opener last week, both the men's and women's teams placed last in the Bear Twilight Invitational. Head coach John Sauerhage these early meets are what prepare the teams for the big races later in the season.
“Everything is about running well at conference, regionals and nationals in this sport,” he said. “Trying to get your meets in while still sticking to your training plan is the challenge.”
After resting several key runners at the Bear Twilight Invitational, Sauerhage plans to bring in some of the veterans but will be resting freshman transfer Jared Lautenslager for one more week.
