Column: Romo retires from Cowboys with loyalty

After speculation about Tony Romo’s future, the 14-year NFL veteran announced Tuesday he is swapping his helmet for a suit and headset.

Romo will join CBS as a color commentator alongside play-by-play announcer Jim Nantz for the 2017-18 season.

Although Cowboys fans had mixed emotions of Romo's playing days, we should all appreciate what he accomplished in his career.

“It was a very difficult decision,” Romo said in a conference call. “I didn’t come to this conclusion lightly.”

While many speculated his decision would be to go to the Houston Texans, Romo’s decision to become a broadcaster told me more about his character than I ever knew.
