Column: Kobe Bryant ends career on a high note

Related Topics: Kobe Bryant, Los Angeles Lakers

Kobe Bryant capped off his storied career Wednesday with a 60-point effort in a 101-96 win over Utah Jazz.

The Los Angeles Lakers were out of the playoff race and had nothing to play for, but Bryant still gave a vintage “Black Mamba” performance in front of the Staples Center crowd.

For much of his career, Bryant was criticized for his selfish nature both on and off the court.

From being blamed for the departure of Shaquille O’Neal to signing a two-year $48.5 million contract extension, some NBA fans painted Bryant as a villain.

However, in his “farewell tour” season, fans around the league came together to celebrate his final year, giving him standing ovations in every arena.
