With a cast of experienced veterans leading the team, the Mavericks baseball team is hopeful it can build on its 24-win season last year and make a good run at the Sun Belt Conference championship.
Head coach Darin Thomas said there is a good mix of veterans and recruits including junior college transfer Quintin Rohrbaugh.
“We should have went after him right out of high school, but we didn’t, and he went to Weatherford and had a good career there,” Thomas said. “He ended up being the player of the year in his conference last year. The big thing about him is that he has about two years with a lot of at-bats at the college level, and we’re expecting him to come in right away and contribute.
