Athletes prioritize schedules to fit classes, careers

Being a Division I athlete and a graduate student can be a challenge, but these UTA athletes have it covered.

“Time management really becomes critical, and I think that’s something I got pretty decent at in undergrad. You definitely learn how much time you need to do certain things,” graduate student Nick Thornton said. “Based on that you can plan your day accordingly.”

Thornton is pursuing a master’s degree in public administration while playing one last season on the golf course.

While his course load differs from his undergraduate studies, he said both are similar.

“[Graduate school] seems a lot more laid-back, even though it may be the same amount of work,” he said.
