A week before the 2017 season began, junior infielder Christian Hollie broke a bone in his right hand while swinging.
Hollie had surgery Feb. 15 and missed the Mavericks first 19 games before returning to the lineup March 18.
“I had to go through a lot of rest at first,” Hollie said. “I had stitches in my hand. I had to wait to get the stitches out, then after that I did a lot of strengthening and massaging just to get the scar tissue out of there and get my strength back.”
Hollie is among the Mavericks’ leaders in career games started.
