Two Lady Mavericks earned Sun Belt Conference honors Monday.
Junior guard Cierra Johnson was named the conference’s Defensive Player of the Year and selected to the All-Conference Second Team. Johnson is the conference leader in steals and 18th in the country, averaging three per game. She is the second Lady Maverick ever to receive the award, after former forward Shalyn Martin earned consecutive honors in 2010 and 2011.
Junior center Rebekah VanDijk was named to the All-Conference First Team. VanDijk averaged a second-best 15.8 points per game. She is third in rebounding and sixth in blocked shots.
