LOS ANGELES – Round 1 of Max Browne vs. Sam Darnold at USC training camp ended Thursday night in similar fashion to many of their spring bouts.
As the USC quarterbacks shared snaps with the first team, Browne’s poise and experience contrasted with Darnold’s athleticism.
It’s something USC coach Clay Helton said he will solve in two weeks. The safe pick is Browne, but the future looks like Darnold. But would Helton want the future to be in the season opener against Alabama? Maybe only Crimson Tide coach Nick Saban has the job security to make that type of call.
