USC's freshmen contribute to rout of New Orleans

LOS ANGELES >> When point guard Julian Jacobs left USC after last season, an immediate question was who would replace him as the Trojans’ leader?

The early answer is almost everyone, as several players emerged Tuesday night in USC’s easy 88-54 victory over New Orleans before 2,711 at the Galen Center.

“It’s not a traditional team where the upperclassmen pick on the freshmen,” said junior guard Elijah Stewart, who scored a game-high 21 points. “It’s kind of a democracy. One person doesn’t rule.”

The leadership-by-committee approach is working so far, with USC off to a 4-0 start.
