USC running backs Justin Davis, Ronald Jones give Trojans a dynamic 1-2 punch

LOS ANGELES – Ronald Jones set a USC freshman rushing record last season, running for a team-high 987 yards.

Neither Reggie Bush, LenDale White, Marcus Allen, Charles White, nor anyone else in the Trojans’ decorated lineage, ran for so many yards in a debut campaign.

Jones’ 6.45 yards-per-carry mark also landed him among the Pac-12’s best.

Entering this season, Coach Clay Helton does not plan to deviate from last season’s backfield roles.

Jones split carries in 2015 with Justin Davis, the experienced and steady senior who will again start.

Davis had 169 carries for 902 yards, and Jones had 153 carries for his nearly 1,000 yards.
