USC releases $270 million plan to renovate the Coliseum

LOS ANGELES – USC on Thursday announced a Coliseum renovation plan that also would accommodate the Summer Olympics should Los Angeles win the bid for 2024.

University officials revealed the $270million preliminary proposal at a well-attended Coliseum Commission meeting. The renovation will be privately financed through school-fundraising efforts, sponsorship revenue, non-USC events at the Coliseum and donor naming opportunities.

Construction is scheduled to begin in January 2018. The project is expected to be completed by August 2019 – just before the start of the ’19 college football season. Construction would be suspended during the ’18 season.
