Sophomore JuJu Smith-Schuster, USC’s leading receiver, is undergoing surgery today to repair a broken right hand, the school announced.
It’s unclear when Smith-Schuster will be able to return. Interim coach Clay Helton said in a university-produced video that the procedure could “speed up” Smith-Schuster’s recovery process. But it’s far from a sure thing.
“Obviously, everybody heals differently,” Helton said. “It’s been as soon as three days, or it could take longer. When he’s healthy and he feels like he can go back out there, he will.”
Smith-Schuster leads USC in receptions (52), receiving yards (956) and touchdowns (eight).
