LOS ANGELES >> USC quarterback Max Browne almost got off the practice field without delay Wednesday night, until a reporter wanted to speak to him.
Browne’s quickly receded into the shadows the past three weeks since freshman quarterback Sam Darnold became everybody’s darling. The redshirt junior left the Coliseum on Saturday afternoon without anyone stopping to speak to him after the Trojans’ 21-17 victory over Colorado. That’s life as a backup who will transfer after the season.
“It’s been tough,” Browne said. “It’s been different, for sure. I’m not going to say it’s easy.”
Especially when friends constantly remind you of your predicament.
