Friday night in Los Angeles looked like it was going to be the final resting place for USC football coach Clay Helton’s tenure.
It was made even more ominous that the person much of the USC fan base has identified as their preferred replacement, Urban Meyer, was on the sideline for FOX. After a detailed layout for how the Trojans could compete against Utah pregame, it felt like Meyer had been measuring Helton’s office for furniture.
However, thanks to tremendous performances, USC was able to defeat the No. 10 Utah Utes, 30-23. For now, talk about Helton’s job can be placed on hold.
