The start of USC football’s 2019 campaign, a 31-23 victory over Fresno State, featured some truly head-scratching performances.
Some of the best players on the field for the Trojans also had some of the shakiest moments. That makes evaluations in Week 1 particularly tricky.
No matter, the task of grading each unit in Week 1 is still complete:
First, the good. True freshman Drake Jackson could hardly have produced a more exciting debut. All offseason he had been compared to the likes of Leonard Williams and Rasheem Green. He didn’t disappoint, coming up with a sack, another four-yard tackle for loss and two pass break ups at the line.
