It only took one day for a couple of USC football starters to fall victim to the injury bug. Luckily, there are no longterm concerns for the pair.
Linebacker Cameron Smith and safety Ykili Ross sat out part of practice on Saturday because of tight hamstrings, according to head coach Clay Helton.
“We pulled both of them to be preventative,” Helton said.
With Smith sidelined, USC turned to former walk-on Reuben Peters, who may be best known for serving as a fullback in recent years.
Why Peters? He’s a veteran who knows the defense despite his humble beginnings.
