USC performance was not impressive enough to rise in the this week’s rankings. It wasn’t even enough to stay put.
The week 2 AP Polls was released on Tuesday afternoon. The voters dropped the Trojans down to No. 17, two spots from their pre-season ranking No. 15. This comes following huge jumps by Virginia Tech and LSU and big drops by Miami and Michigan after week 1. As mentioned USC didn’t have a stand out performance against UNLV as they needed a 4th quarter serge to put away the Rebels. The AP ranking differs from where the coaches rank the Trojans.
