The Trojans doubled down on improving their defensive line through the portal by adding Michigan State transfer Alex VanSumeren to team up with Penn State’s Zurich Fisher. The 300-pound defensive tackle started 24 games for the Spartans.
He tallied 53 tackles, ranking third on the team, with six coming in an early 2025 game against USC. Alex is a three-star transfer portal prospect and is expected to be an immediate contributor when he arrives, as the Trojans keep up their streak of productive Power Four starters from the portal for the 2026 squad. With these moves the Trojans have plenty of depth at the interior defensive line, with Jide Abisari and Jahkeem Stewart poised to be impact players at the position.
