USC adjusts to tailback-by-committee approach

USC’s Steve Sarkisian said he’s always had a tailback gain at least 1,000 yards while he’s been a head coach.

But that might change this year as no Trojans tailback has gained more than 245 yards in the first four games. Freshman Ronald Jones leads USC in rushing (245 yards), closely followed by senior Tre Madden (213) and junior Justin Davis (144).

Sarkisian was asked Sunday if he liked a tailback-by-committee better?

“I like it,” he said. “I think it keeps us fresh. There’s going to come games when we’re going to start to lean on a couple of them or one of them depending on how the game goes.
