UCLA puts up a fight, but USC gets the victory in rivalry game

’s fight song was playing, and the players on the field were dancing and exhorting the crowd to cheer. Most of the 82,407 in attendance at the Coliseum for USC’s 28-23 rivalry game with UCLA were too busy exhaling.

For four ugly quarters, UCLA had hung around. USC flirted with disaster. But even UCLA quarterback Josh Rosen’s brilliance wasn’t enough to overcome the Bruins’ own mistakes.

So No. 11 USC soldiered on to its 10th win and could turn its full attention to the Pac-12 Conference championship game in two weeks. UCLA was left with one more game in a disappointing season and a looming decision on coach Jim Mora’s future.
