Pat Haden will step down as USC athletic director on June 30

USC Athletic Director Pat Haden will retire June 30, the school announced Friday.

Haden will still oversee USC’s fundraising for planned renovations to the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum from July 1, 2016, to June, 30, 2017.

“Our campus now bears Pat Haden’s stamp in perpetuity,” USC President C.L. Max Nikias said in the announcement.

The retirement comes after a tumultuous stretch for Haden.

The athletic director fired football coach Steve Sarkisian in October in the aftermath of concerns about the coach’s behavior, including slurring words and using an expletive while speaking at the "Salute to Troy" booster event in August.
