Gary Jeter, 1976 USC All-American Defensive Tackle, Dies

Former USC defensive tackle Gary Jeter, a 1976 All-American first teamer who then starred in the NFL for 13 seasons, died on Thursday (March 10) in Plainsboro, N.J. He was 61.

Jeter was a 4-year (1973-76) starter for the Trojans and was a member of Troy's 1974 national championship team. He recorded 234 career tackles at USC and won All-Conference first team honors his last 3 seasons. During his time, the Trojans played in 3 Rose Bowls (1974-75-77) and in the 1975 Liberty Bowl.

He was the fifth pick of the 1977 NFL Draft by the New York Giants.
