The bye week came at an odd time for USC. A lot was made of the matchup against Illinois heading into the game that took place in Champaign.
Instead of showcasing some of the positive elements of improvement within the program, many of the same aspects that have plagued the Trojans as of late in big games showed up again.
There can be two trains of thought in terms of the timing of the bye from when Trojan fans last saw USC step foot on the field.
One perspective is that the pause in the action came at just the right time in order for coach Lincoln Riley to hit the reset button, as it were.
