Five silver linings to USC football’s 2019 recruiting class

By now, most Trojan fans will be aware of a sad fact: USC football’s 2019 recruiting class was simply below par.

USC failed to sign (or more accurately, keep) a five-star player for the first time since recruiting stars became a thing. At 18th nationally, the class of 2019 was USC’s lowest ranked in that time span as well.

There’s no sugar coating it. So we won’t try to. But, there is room to provide some perspective on what the Trojans did accomplish in the recruiting cycle.

In short, it wasn’t all bad. In fact, there are at least five silver linings to consider:

USC filled needs at DB

With five graduating defensive backs, all starters, and the departure of an additional four DBs since the start of last year, USC is set to return just eight players in the secondary.
