Coach Steve Sarkisian is eager to see how it all comes together for USC

/ STAFF WRITER

LOS ANGELES – For a team with 16 returning starters (depending on how you do the math) and only one change in the coaching staff, USC has undergone a significant transformation during the offseason that finally will end Saturday.

When USC kicks off against Arkansas State at 8 p.m. at the Coliseum, Coach Steve Sarkisian no longer will call the majority of the offensive plays. Other game-day responsibilities will change for Sarkisian’s assistants. The staff will oversee a widespread platoon system. And as many as 16 newcomers – including 13 freshmen from a robust 2015 class – are expected to play in the opener.
