Chimezie Metu lands with San Antonio Spurs in second round of 2018 NBA Draft

Chimezie Metu has found his new home in the NBA, going in the second round of the 2018 NBA Draft to the San Antonio Spurs.

Metu joined De’Anthony Melton in the second round, becoming the first pair of Trojan teammates to be drafted since DeMar DeRozan and Taj Gibson in 2009. Melton was selected by the Houston Rockets at No. 46.

The 6-foot-11 big man led USC in scoring as a junior during the 2017-18 season, averaging 15.7 points per game. He also put up 7.4 rebounds per game while posting 59 blocks.

As a freshman in 2015-16, Metu helped guide USC to the NCAA Tournament, though the Trojans were bounced in the first round by Providence.
