Women’s soccer drops season opener 1-0

Despite being out-shot 15-12, the Matadors of California State University, Northridge hung on in the second half to capture the 1-0 win over the UNLV women’s soccer team.

CSUN’s Alexis White hammered the lone goal in the contest in the 37th minute and the Matadors played hounding defense for the remainder of the tilt. The loss was the first for UNLV Head Coach Chris Shaw in his six year tenure for the program on opening day. It was the first loss on opening day for the Rebels since 2009.

UNLV had 15 shots compared to 12 from CSUN.
