UNLV active in going after recruits for 2017 class

ESPN.com has released its rankings of top 100 basketball recruits for the 2017 class, and UNLV has made offers to several of those players.

Three locals are among those players:Charles O’Bannon Jr. at No. 23, Troy Brown Jr. at No. 28 and Oshae Brissett at No. 81.

O’Bannon, a 6-foot-5-inch guard from Bishop Gorman High School, is a five-star recruit, according to ESPN. He also is listed as the nation’s sixth-best shooting guard, and in addition to UNLV has received scholarship offers from Arizona, Kansas, Oklahoma, Oregon, UCLA, Southern California and Utah among others.

Brown, a 6-6 forward from Centennial High, received four stars and is listed by ESPN as the fifth-best small forward.
