All season long, the Rebel’s Men’s team has always been to rely on one man throughout: Marco Gonzalez.
After remaining deadlocked at one goal apiece through over a 100 minutes of play, the sophomore midfielder scored his second goal of the game to give UNLV a 2-1, double-overtime victory over Utah Valley University.
Gonzalez, whose first goal came at 78:17 with the Rebels trailing the Wolverines 1-0, notched his team-leading 8th and 9th goals of the season.
A foul cost UVU greatly in double-overtime, as it led to the eventual game-winning penalty shot Gonzalez converted. It was the 19th penalty the Wolverines committed, which was seven more than UNLV had, at 12.
