Las Vegas native Vargas set to face Broner in Brooklyn

This Saturday night at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, Las Vegas’ own former two-division world champion Jessie Vargas (28-2, 10 KOs) will attempt to shut-up and shutdown one of the sport’s most famous — or infamous — practitioners, Adrien “The Problem” Broner (33-3, 24 KOs).

Originally, Broner was scheduled to face undefeated former lightweight champion Omar Figueroa Jr (27-0-1, 19 KOs), but Figueroa was forced to pull out of the fight after driving intoxicated and getting slapped with a DUI. When Vargas was announced as the replacement, nearly everybody within the boxing world agreed that the fight had been upgraded.
